he paper considers the problem of constipation in children. It gives the current classification of childhood functional constipation, then-current studies, and correction modalities. Particular attention is given to the effects of prebiotics on gastrointestinal tract motility. There are data on the use of inulin-fortified baby foods in the prevention and complex treatment of children with functional constipation.
