The paper characterizes euthanasia and identifies its main forms: active (termination of life to alleviate the patient’s suffering, voluntary active euthanasia, and suicide with the help of a medical professional) and passive euthanasia; voluntary, involuntary, and compulsory, direct and indirect ones. It shows the main contraindications and unsolved problems of this problem.
