The paper gives the current pattern of diseases of the heart and vessels in children and adolescents. It shows that the possibilities of diagnosis are related to the problems of treatment and prevention of the most common diseases and those of organization of a nursing process. Promises for further development to fit research advances of the Russian cardiology school are outlined.
