N.I. Briko is one of the leading epidemiologists of the country. He formulated the modern theoretical concept of epidemiology, defined its content and structure.

Under the leadership of N.I. Briko carried out fundamental research on the epidemiology of pneumococcal and streptococcal infections, sexually transmitted infections, vaccine-preventable infections. Studies on the molecular epidemiology of group A streptococcal infections were conducted for the first time in Russia.

She is the author of 5 monographs, 8 books, 6 textbooks, 23 tutorials and manuals for physicians and students and 9 training programs. With the participation of N.I. Briko first prepared a unique set of interdisciplinary training materials on infectious diseases and epidemiology, intended for the three levels of training of medical professionals: students of medical schools and colleges, higher nursing education and medical students in the specialty "Medical Business". He co-authored a physician's manual on the epidemiology of infectious diseases.

He has published over 700 scientific papers, 7 patents and certificates of authorship.

Under his supervision 17 candidate theses and 8 doctoral dissertations were completed.
