The paper gives the results of a study of the psychological aspects of the interaction of medical staff at mental hospital and the creation an optimal model of the therapeutic environment. It also discusses the readiness of the specialists, middle and junior medical staff of a mental hospital for social contact with a mentally ill subject and the values of their sympathetic distance.
